World, the premier US motorcycling magazine officially broke the news
on the new K1200S in their July '04 issue (see image below). Motorrad
magazine of Germany unofficially provided a wealth of spy images and information
on the K1200S back in October 2003. On this page I will be focusing mostly
on premier Press information about this new German SuperBike. |

| The Spanish
magazine Solo Moto Treinta has done a nice spread on the new K1200S in
their July 2004 issue. A few sample pages are shown below, the actual
article is even longer. Click on the image to go to their web site. |
K1200S makes the June
cover of an Australian magazine.
K1200S on the cover
of Motorrad magazine.
A very rare
appearance for a BMW. K1200S in the Sport Rider magazine.
Click on the image below to read the actual article. This article unfortunately
contains numerous errors and misinformation. It compares BMW's HP at the
crank with Japanese competition at the rear wheel. It also goes on to
compare BMW's dry weight against the Japanese competition's wet weight.
Careless? Very, but a good read regardless. |
| Motorrad Magazine
of Germany, October 2003: This is the famous article that broke the news
about the new BMW K bike, code named K40. Due to a security britch at
BMW, actual images and info about this secretive project leaked out to
the Motorrad about 6 months earlier than planned. |
